2016 European Heart Failure Awareness Days make a stop in Pisa on May 8th at the Unit of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Medicine of Tuscany Gabriele Monasterio Foundation. The event to be held on May 8th  from 9 to 12.30 pm is organized by Pisa branch of  National Research  Council in collaboration with  Sant'Anna School for Advanced Studies. At Pisa via Moruzzi 1 CNR research area, electrocardiograms, diagnostic tests and exercise stress test will be performed on all patients.

The prevalence of heart failure, that is, the proportion of population suffering from this disease in Europe and in Italy, is equal to 2.5 percent. This means that about 15 million people in Europe and 1 million Italians suffer from heart failure. The proportion increases exponentially with advancing age: less than 1 percent up to 60 years, 2 percent between 60 and 70 years, 5 percent between 70 and 80 years, reaching more than 10 percent after 80 years of age.
